Foundation Models for
Bioinformatics and Biomedicine

Dec 5-8, 2024

About

Foundation models like large language models and vision-language models have been pivotal in the transformation of artificial intelligence. Trained on vast datasets, these models exhibit extraordinary abilities in understanding and generating natural language and analyzing visual content. Their success across general domains has fueled exploration into specialized applications within bioinformatics and biomedicine—fields deeply entrenched in complex data.

Bioinformatics and biomedicine leverage computational power to decipher intricate biological and medical data. Integrating foundation models into these areas promises substantial advancements in research and healthcare outcomes. Applications range from biomedical image analysis and drug discovery to protein design and personalized medicine, exploiting the abundance of data to foster novel discoveries and enhance decision-making processes.

This workshop is dedicated to unveiling the potential of foundation models within bioinformatics and biomedicine. We aim to bring together a diverse group of researchers and industry experts to foster collaboration, share cutting-edge solutions, and discuss both the opportunities and challenges of applying foundation models in critical biomedical sectors. Join us as we delve into the transformative capabilities of these models in driving forward the future of medicine and healthcare technology.

The work is held in conjuction with IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BIBM, CCF rank B). Accepted paper will be including in the BIBM proceedings.
